Question by : Can a small thyroid nodule cause symptoms?
Doctor’s have sent me blood work 3 times end it is always normal, but i had an ultrasound done and i have a small nodule on left side of my thyroid my thyroids lookes abnormal. and have symptoms like tremors in my hands i feel jittery, anxious, palpitations, hair falling out,trouble swallowing, have mood swings, i feel sleepy all day, muscles fell weak, low body temperature, could this be the nodule i have or is it just anxiety?

Yes, a nodule on your thyroid gland can suppress its function. Your hair falling out, feelings of sleepiness, and low body temperature are “signs” that something is off with your thyroid; however, if your blood work comes back within normal hormone levels it means your thyroid function IS normal. If you hadn’t had blood work done, I’d suggest that… Hmmm, I would suggest that you continue to tract your symptoms for the next month and return to the doctor is anything new arises. Is your skin dry? The anxiousness, etc. could just be stress-induced due to worrying over your symptoms. Try to relax because blood work doesn’t lie. If it shows all your levels are good, then they are. Do you know your hormone levels, etc.? If so, you are welcome to IM me personally and I can help you understand them. :0) Best wishes!

Doesn’t sound like it to me.
Hyperthyroidism symptoms – Don’t sleep well, warm/hot body temp, lose weight quickly.

Hypothyroidism symptoms – tired, muscle cramps, cold all the time, weight gain.

The reason why you aren’t losing weight isn’t necessarily a thyroid problem. It could be anything.

PLease go to the doctor, ask about the thyroid and let them know what’s going on…and get checked out.

I went for a blood test about that, but the only thing the Dr noticed about me, is that my neck looked different. Check out your neck for any changes

I seem to be getting lots of symptoms basic blood work test are all within normal ranges except cholesterol – but I have headaches, vision problems, irregular periods (close together) sleep problems, fuzzy brain – over 50 – I do work long hours & have been suffering long term stress. Any women had similar symptoms and have identified causes and treatment? Your help is greatly appreciated.
Edit: I haven’t had hot flushes to speak of but sometimes people say my face is red but I don’t feel hot or sweaty when it happens.

it does sound like menopause, but stress can mimic so many syptoms of other things so it is hard to say.
you didnt mention any hot flashes –but not all women get them .
if you get night sweats then more then likely it is menopause.
i did have similisr symptoms and all my tests were okay other then high cholesterol just like you–but many have that anyway i guess.
